The PPA License – Pay per App

The PPA License is simple – pay in advance per application. Apps are sold in blocks of 50 – unused applications are not refundable. You can add another block of 50 applications to your program at any time.

Events may choose to add an application processing fee as well, to retain for program revenues. Events may also turn on Reimbursable Ticket sales (festiVOL™ assesses a 3% + $1.99 per ticket fee), to protect ticket entry and increase program revenues.

The Beer Quarter Event

The Organizers of The Beer Quarter event want to build up a team of dedicated volunteer participants for their event. As their event repeats quarterly, there is an opportunity for participants to truly learn their roles and assist with more of an eye toward the craft. Organizers felt that their program should center on bringing in fans that already had a background in the event’s offering – quality craft beer. Organizers wanted to provide folks with this interest and with this knowledge a way to get involved – they didn’t just want a volunteer team, they wanted a way for their community could become more involved.

Organizers decided they could split their one-day event into two shifts – a morning and an afternoon shift. They opted to allow first-come-first-serve on shift picks for their first event program, and would later allow schedule selection based on seniority. They felt they would build program integrity.

Organizers decided they needed a software and framework to manage volunteer shift requests, skills, and the scheduling and onsite management processes. They chose festiVOL™ as they wanted to elevate their community – they didn’t want just a software, but more of a community program that would provide the framework they needed.

As they were elevating individuals with a bit of status already in the realm of craft beer, they elected not to charge a reimbursable ticket to their participants – they expected low no-shows because they felt participants would have pride in their work shifts.

When deciding on their license type, they weighed the factors that they felt were most important to their program. They decided that each event would need under 150 fan volunteers, and they expected many of the same folks to sign up for multiple events. They decided that the low price of purchasing the applications in advance, in the PPA License, was well worth the set of tools they would access to properly log the hours and the performance of each participant, so to best build the program integrity from event to event.

The value that the elevated participants brought to the event was tangible! They felt they had made the right choice in their program construct, and are delighted with how easy it was to build on shifts and performance feedback from event to event. They are now in perfect harmony with their fan labor program.
