**Job Title: Host/Hostess**
The wage is $18.00 per hour, with additional tips from the service staff.
**Summary:** The Host/Hostess is responsible for greeting and seating customers in a manner that promotes the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant. Additionally, this role involves maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the area surrounding the front entrance and hostess station through the execution of the following duties.
**Duties and Responsibilities:** The following duties are essential to the role, though additional responsibilities may be assigned. The restaurant utilizes Open Table for reservations.
- Prepares and maintains a seating chart for each shift while ensuring familiarity with the rotation order.
- Greets and seat customers courteously and timely upon their arrival at the restaurant, communicates any seating delays and initiates a waiting list as necessary.
- Sweeps the dining room prior to each shift and cleans the shift menus at the conclusion of each shift.
- Reviews reservation books for any upcoming reservations and makes phone calls to confirm reservations for the following day's shifts.
- Attends to the special needs of customers and communicates these needs to the relevant staff members.
- Assists the dining room staff during peak periods by cleaning tables whenever feasible.
- Records messages for employees and delivers them at appropriate times.
- Communicates any customer or employee challenges to management.
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the full menu and other pertinent restaurant information, including operating hours and accepted forms of payment.
- Completes opening and closing duties in accordance with established procedures.
- Reports any health and safety concerns or violations to management without delay.
