Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

  • V2X is looking for a Director of Government Relations to provide research, analysis establish relationships with Federal Governmental Leaders and related support relevant to V2X existing and future contemplated programs. For this role, we are looking for a candidate who is organized, proactive, adaptable, and excited by the opportunity to help build the Government Relations function for an industry-leading federal government contractor.
  • The Director of Government Relations will work to and support the Chief Growth Officer will participate in the management of V2X government relations activities which include issues management and analysis and advocacy activities with prioritized, relevant government officials at all levels; and will support the corporation's activities in the political and public policy areas.
  • The Director of Government Relations serves as a member of the V2X Business Development Team and represents V2X interests before federal governments. The Director works under the supervision of the Chief Growth Officer to leverage federal policy efforts to protect and grow V2Xs business national and internationally. This role requires significant leadership and business acumen, and works across V2X to coordinate business, technical, legal and other inputs to effectively represent V2X before legislatures and regulatory bodies in the US and other international countries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively track federal legislative and regulatory developments including US Federal government budgets.
  • Design and manage the V2XClient Engagement Strategy for all Governmental officials
  • Draft presentations, write papers and talking points for V2X staff in support of activities focused on both internal and external audiences.
  • Identify and analyze policy trends to help inform business decisions, develop policy positions, and advance the company's business objectives and initiatives.
  • Protect V2X business interests and expand growth opportunities through advocacy, education, and engagement at the federal levels.
  • Help to establish V2X as a trusted thought leader by promoting the company with prioritized, relevant government officials and policy influencers at the federal level
  • Support internal and external clients by monitoring, analyzing, and providing insights into the political, legislative, and public policy landscapes.
  • Conduct research, provide analysis, and prepare issue briefs explaining the political, societal, and legislative dynamics on a wide range of policy issues.
  • Manage a portfolio of public policy issues and track and report on policy trends and developments, providing recommendations on positioning.
  • Closely monitor and flag legislative and regulatory actions that could impact the Company.
  • Promote and manage the company's PAC within appropriate regulatory requirements
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Bachelors Degree required; graduate degree in law, public policy, or a related discipline is a plus
  • Experience:
    • Ten (10+) years experience working with legislative and regulatory bodies at the federal level
    • Preference for experience in the government contractor/services industry
    • Previous experience on Capitol Hill or in a State Legislature required
    • Strong bipartisan network that can be leveraged on behalf of V2X
    • A demonstrated track record developing and executing public policy campaigns with high ROI and demonstrable returns to clients/business
  • Other Requirements:
    • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Budget Responsibilities:
    • Budget responsibility is for Government Relation Consultants / lobbying firms with an average spend of $300K per year with the possibility of a surge spend to $500K for special requirements if directed by CGO.
    • Financial management responsibility of administering the PAC.
  • Skills:
    • This is a senior role that requires in-depth knowledge and understanding of legislative and regulatory processes at the federal level
    • Must possess significant personal relationships in Washington, DC and state capitals, and be seen as an industry leader externally
    • The individual in this role must be comfortable operating in a matrixed environment and adaptable to handle multiple competing priorities with diverse internal and external stakeholders
    • Strong written and oral communications skills and comfort speaking in public
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
    • Strong inter-personal and negotiation skills required
    • A keen understanding of the legislative, regulatory, policymaking and political processes including the US Congress.
  • Software:

    • The following salary range is intended to display the value of the companys base pay compensation and may be modified at the discretion of the company.
      • USD $ 200,000 - 225,000
    • Provided salary range minimum and maximum values correspond to variances between regional/geographic locations across the United States.
